Kefalonian Beach near Sami

There are many beaches near The Walnut Tree Villa.   Some are easily accessible by car or bike and some only on foot or by boat. The hidden treasures of Kefalonia are those beaches which are less easy to find but well worth the effort.

We particularly recommend these beaches which are nearest to The Walnut Tree Villa:

KARAVOMOLIS, SAMI, PARASKEVI – all near enough for evening sea swims

MYRTOS BEACH (about twenty minutes drive from the villa) famed for the ever-changing and magical colour of the water.  Beach bar, sunbeds and umbrellas, outdoor shower, toilets, lifeguard (in high season), plenty of parking, sand and pebbles – a good swimming beach.  A regular bus service runs in high summer and there is a marked walk from Aghia Efimia to Divarata, the village above Myrtos Beach and then on down through the gorge to the beach itself.  There are plenty of tavernas and restaurants in Divarata village,  before the road runs down to the beach.

ANTISAMOS BEACH  (about ten minutes drive from the villa), the local’s favourite.  Beach bars/tavernas, sunbeds and umbrellas, outdoor shower (min the sea), toilets, lifeguard (in high season), plenty of parking, mostly pebbles – great beach for water sports, swimming and snorkelling.  Beach shoes recommended.  If you love pedalos, banana boats, doughnuts, water skiing, jet skis etc, it’s Antisamos Beach!  However, if you don’t like these types of watersports, please do not be put off – the beach is so big that generally the water sports are not intrusive.

OTHER BEACHES well worth visiting but further afield include:

Petani (nice beach bars and gentle sloping sand), Vouti (drive to Zola and taking road through the village the beach is below on quite tricky road), Xi (one long stretch of sand), Skala (sand by the town but in the direction of Poros, there are rocky coves and excellent snorkelling, Koroni (at the far end of the beach, try out using the mud as an all over body ‘pack’ – then jump in the sea and wash it all off – very very nice!), Koutsopia (only accessible by boat or a long walk from Antisamos – but so beautiful.  It could be its isolation, the colour of the water, the huge ‘pebbles’ visible under the water – who knows!)
